Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa is a 2013 hidden camera comedy.
I appreciated that they didn’t try to shoehorn a moral in the story. The premise is thin. Oversexed Grandpa goes on a road trip to deliver his 8-year-old grandson to the boys ne’er-do-well father ( who wants to boy solely for the child support payment). Also, the corpse of Grandpa’s recently deceased wife is taken along for the ride.
There isn’t a plot (naturally, most of it is hidden cam). It’s mostly a series of gags (most of which are familiar, but I laughed a lot. A LOT). The interactions between Knoxville and the young boy are natural and hilarious. I loved the kid. He was cute as a button and immediately likable.
I was grateful that the film didn’t turn mawkish at the end. I enjoyed it throughout. The humor is crude but nothing you haven’t seen in any R-rated studio comedy.
